Form II is a refined style, as will be evident when compared in action to
any of the other seven styles. It specializes in advanced blade manipulation,
for blade-to-blade combat. It is, quite possibly, the most sophisticated
of the seven forms, with a plethora of swift, deft techniques. The moves
are designed to exploit many weaknesses and openings present in the opponent.
Form II takes components from the styles of Western fencing, rapier, kenjitsu,
and the occasional Chinese swordplay technique. It started as a two-handed
grip style, like most Earth lightsabre forms. Over the years, however, because
of the fencing, rapier, and Chinese influences, it evolved into a one-handed
form. This is an interesting development, considering the Lucasian preference
for the double-grip.
A great deal of research and development went into this form, perhaps more
than was utilized in creating Form VII. Once in practice, this form was refined
by numerous swordmasters until it became the epitome of elegant fighting.
It came to represent the finest of Lucasian sabre skills. Because of its
focus on melee combat, however, almost no techniques to repel blaster fire
or other long-range weapons were established. This is Form II's major weakness.
Many of the greatest Lucasian lightsabre masters employed Form II. Many of
them were considered mavericks or even renegades by their peers, due to their
devotion to refining their combat prowess. I fear that such an attitude could
prove detrimental to this order, by causing the members to ignore one of
the greatest and most researched fighting styles in their possession.
