The Final Throes of War

It seemed that the conflict would at long last be over. With the last of the great Sith Warlords finished, the surrender of the Darkside tradition was seen as inevitable. Yet, there was one last threat to be dealt with.

With his dying breath, Sanush revealed to the Jedi that there was a major Dark force to be dealt with... one that was responsible for all the destruction that was caused. This person was his mentor, someone who was even more powerful than he was.

And this individual was among the very Jedi who were fighting against the dark.

Worse, he was one of the Elders.

When this was revealed to them, the Elders wasted no time in searching among their own peers who this individual was. They had faced a similar disaster before, eons ago, and they feared that it had once again come to pass.

The Elder's name was Inias. A member of the high scholar rank of Jedi on their planet, he not only was well learned in their own Jedi traditions, but was secretly a consumate master of long forgotten Sith teachings. He, along wth a few of his hidden allies in the reptillian Sith forces, had planned to take over the Planet Earth and rule it, using the humans inslaved there to form his own army of super powerful darkside warriors to then carve out a place for himself in the galaxy. His original plan foiled so many years earlier, he had hoped to bide his time until he could turn the tide of the war. However, time ran out for him.

It would be an Elder Jedi named Yina'yun, a member of the Jedi Grand Assembly, who would find him out. Cornered, Inias admited to working in dark secrecy for so long, pulling the wool over his peers for centuries. Now that he was discovered, he would now launch a full scale asault upon the ancient order of protectors, on such a scale that they would be ill pressed to withstand it. He then told told Yina'yun to prepare for the end.

The Grand Assembly member was not phased, however. Rather, he was insensed that one so malignant could have hidden among them and caused so much suffering and grief throughout the galaxy, while making himself look like one of the honored protectors. With scorn, he told the traitor to prepare for death.

Their duel was even more awe inspiring and terrible than the match between Sanush and the Black Phoneix Master, and it was one that was felt by many strong in the Force. Those who were able to witness it, physically or otherwise, were finally able to get a sense of just how mighty the Elders were when it came to the Force. One Knight was so shaken by it, that he put away his lightsabre and gave up the Jedi path.

in the end, Yina'yun was victorious. The last major threat was over, but the damage was still done. Inias was able to remain hidden with his machinations for centuries, at the price of numerous systems suffering under the oppression of Dark Warlords.

To this day, the Elders feel that they hold a major responsibility to defending the innocent against malignant dark forces within their own ranks, as well as elsewhere. They also feel they owe much to the galaxy for what it's people went through, and have pledged themselves into making sure that such a thing never happens again.

Little by little, the Sith were surrendering. There were still a few lords that were willing to continue fighting, but by and large, most realized the futility of it all. After a few minor skirmishes and battles here and there, a truce was called.

Meeting at a neutral location, the major heads of both Jedi and Sith Forces met to discuss the details of the surrender. Strong emotions and opinions were aired throughout the talks, but in the end, a settlement was reached. The Sith weren't allowed to dominate anywhere in the major systems of the galaxy where the Jedi held sway, but they were allowed to continue to proliferate and keep their territories in the outer fringes. However, as the Jedi were the protectors of the galaxy, if anyone asked for any sort of release from any Sith tyranny, they would show up to fight for them. And if they tried to stretch beyond their borders into territory openly protected by the Jedi already, they'd be attacked instantly. The Sith would reluctantly agree: it wasn't as if they were strong enough at that point to refuse.

The treaty was finally signed on the Earth date of April 15, 2403, and the celebrations that would soon be had in almost every system would last all the way up till thd of that year. Finally, at long last, the Great Jedi War was over.
