The cataclismic conflict known as The Great Jedi War was a disastarous event in the history of the Planet Earth, destroying most of the nations on the planet and responsible for catastrophic numbers of people killed. However, it was also ushered in a dawn of a new age for human beings, as it finally made them aware of their inner powers, awakened them to a more harmonic way of life, and allowed many of them to join a galactic brotherhood of protectors whom they would call Jedi.
The War would last 400 years, raging all over the Earth, and would spread out beyond the globe into the galaxy that surrounded it, as the Jedi would continue to battle against those humans that called themselves and their fellow allies and warriors Sith, as well as the massive Sertaillian Empire. New planets would be founded, with new cultures rising up in them, systems would be liberated, and a new Federation of galactic beings would be formed, banding together to attempt to usher in an age of peace and order throught the galaxy as they battled against the war and system hungry meanace.
