As the carnage began to spread, it became clear to the Elders that it was time to fight fire with fire.
The planet Earth was on the verge of being sieged by a dark empire bent on claiming it and its resources. They already had their opperatives well situated in it, furthering their plans along. The elder's Earth bases were taken over, with their agents possibly all killed. They didn't have time to notify the main council and have them send reinforcements. But something had to be done to protect the humans on this planet. The answer was obvious: to train benevolent humans to be part of their order and to becaome defenders of their own planet, able to face those who would usurp it.
One major problem that faced them however, was that unlike the enemy, they weren't training many people in advance secretly, so they were basicly starting from scratch. The one thing that was working in their favor were the existance of humans who despite the feelings of their society, continued to research, practice, and live certian teachings, excersies and philosophies that they (the elders) had gave their ancestors long, long ago.
After some throrough searching, they were soon able to find some human beings suitible for training. They had to be extremely selective in their search; the potentials they picked had to be of sound mind, body and spirit, with a strong sense of responcibility and discipline. They had to be somewhat close enough to the energy of the cosmos, or the Force as some of the humans liked to call it, to know it exists, so that it would be easier for the Elders to re-connect them to it. It also helped for them to have some kind of martial arts training, no matter what kind it was, as they would be using what what taught to them to fight for their planet, their people, and themselves.
Sahasrala, the human gaurdian who George Lucas had met years earlier, happened to have been with the group that visited Earth, and got in touch with Lucas again, telling him of their plans. The film maker offered to turn a part of his Skywalker ranch over to them for training purposes, thus making it the very first Human Jedi training facility on Earth. It also helped to found the Lucasian Order of Jedi, a Jedi clan which would soon become one of the biggest ones on Earth. This caused the humans who would be trained there to start calling themselves Jedi, because of the similarites to the movie characters and what they were about to become. The name stuck, and soon would be associatd with all the humans training this way.
One of the canidates that was picked was the college revolutionary speaker, David Vallas. Not only was he picked for his stong sence of justice and moral values, but he also was well versed in spiritual matters, and had a keen interest in the mystical warrior ways. When picked by the beings to become one of the Human Jedi defending the planet, he jumped at the chance. Feeling that this was a new begining for him, he felt his name should be changed. His master, a woman named Tira Atëlu, decided to call him Davyd Vallhalla. This would thus be the name atributed to the first known human Jedi Knight.
Skywalker Ranch wasn't the only place where humans were being trained, though it was the largest one, with the most trainees. Some Gaurdians elected to train some humans in other places around the world secretly, sometimes one on one, with their own personal slants and beliefs. This created some interesting distictions between the Jedi, and was the basis for the many clans that would spring up. This actually proved benificial, for not only did it cuase Jedi to spring up all over the world almost simultaniously, but it also produced some very powerfull Jedi, particularly with the ones getting one on one training, rather than the more insitutionalized areas like Skywalker Ranch.
Still, it was slow going. Jedi training was not something that could be rushed, and it was some time before there were Jedi competant enough to face the marauding Sith, who were on a rampage at this point. The most that they could do at the moment was defend small pockets of space from attackers, and they began to usher in as many people in as possible for protection. The millitary were doing their best not only to defend their land, but also to hold on to some semblance of power, but it was not enough, and goverments all over were crumbling to chaos. Officals soon were ordering their soldiers to only guard the lawmakers, as they felt they were the ones who were needed to keep the nation alive, as well as out of a strong selfish sense of self perservation. All this contributed to a state of utter anarchy that continued to grow all around the world
By the time a small number of competant Jedi were surfacing, the Sith were organizing themselves to gain control over the planet. Working with their alien masters, they forged a plan to simultanisouly attack all the main cities and capitals of the world, therby crippling any institutionalized resistances that would be in their way. The aliens were pleased with the resorcefullness of their human weapons, and agreed with their plans. The humans then went ahead....but with another hidden agenda just waiting to be realized.....
In the middle of the year 2005, the major cities of planet Earth were under seige. The military, despite being outfitted with advanced weapons, were decimated by the Sith. All over, government leaders and officials scrambbled underground and into hidding in secret bunkers, while the doomed masses twisted in agony and fear in the midst of destruction.
Jedi apprentices and knights scrambled to the defence of these cities. They fought valiantly and were able to prove themselves capable to stand against the aggressors for a while. Still it was not enough. While they were able to save many lives, and in some cases, keep the cites from being totally destroyed, there weren't able to drive the Sith away. Many lives were lost on the side of the defenders.
New York City was one of the last of the cites to fall. In fact, while not able to keep the city from being torn apart, the defenders were actually able to wipe out a good number of the attackers, thus bringing the battle to a stalemate, keeping the sith from totaly taking it over. They were also able to keep many innocents alive. One well trained and powerfull human Jedi who was extremly instramental in bringing down scores of the enemy, swore upon leaving the flaming city that he would return to settle the score.
Still for the moment, it looked as if darkness had won a decisive victory. All over, the settlments of human society lay in ruins, and the alien defenders, as well as they human allies and disciples, were powerless to stop it. The world was now in the hands of the Sith and their alien masters, and the Jedi knew that a time of intense hardship and suffering lay ahead. This would now be a time for desperate conflict, if they were to free their Earth.....
The Great Jedi War had begun.
